Who We Are

The Mission

Emmaus Institute of Brain Health & Wellness, Inc. promotes brain health, emotional healing, and overall mind, body, and spiritual wellness through education, training, integrative mind, body, spirit (neuro-psychophysiological) techniques, and evidence-based modalities focused on the whole person. Emmaus Institute of Brain Health, Wellness & Research, Inc. offers a comprehensive neuro-biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to brain-mental health and wellness training.

Problem Statement

Emmaus Institute of Brain Health, Wellness & Research, Inc. stands out with its unique approach that develops, evaluates, and provides neuro-biopsychosocial-spiritual and applied psychophysiological interventions. These interventions, with a special focus on women’s mental health, are a result of a collaborative approach that also addresses the social and medical determinants of health. The impact of these determinants on the whole person ─brain, emotions, behaviors, and physical and spiritual health of women, underscores the critical need to improve our understanding of the brain and mental health. This understanding is key to promoting behaviors that lead to optimum brain-mental health and overall wellness and quality of life. The journey to understanding the interplay between the mind, body, and spirit is dynamic. When we know our relationship with the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit coupled with the brain, hormones, stress-related factors, thinking patterns, and our environment are dynamic. While studies have shed light on this complex relationship, they often rely on small sample sizes, fail to provide double-blind experimental designs, and may be limited to observational and non-pragmatic methods. This foundational work lays the groundwork to navigate the intricacies of the neuro-biopsychosocial-spiritual factors affecting women’s brain-mental health and wellness. Significantly among African American/Black and Brown women, stress-related factors, including social and medical determinants of health (SDOH), influence women’s brain-mental health and other health conditions. These factors necessitate more evidence-based research and subsequent education, training, and interventions to address symptomatology, behaviors, experiences, and outcomes. It is equally as essential to bridge the gap in our understanding concerning the intersectionality of stress-related factors, SDOH, and the neuro-biopsychosocial-spiritual aspects of women. Emmaus Institute of Brain Health, Wellness & Research, Inc. provides the research, education, training, and requisite modalities to unravel the specific mechanisms through which stress-related factors influence brain-mental health and other correlated health symptoms. Our goal includes identifying, understanding, and addressing the determinants that correlate with changes in brain-mental health in women. With this knowledge, we can provide evidence-based interventions to influence optimum health and overall quality of life for women, offering a hopeful and optimistic future for women’s health, where we can make a significant difference. Emmaus Institute of Brain Health, Wellness & Research, Inc. also deliver innovative research, education, training, interventions, and strategies to influence women’s brain-mental health and overall wellness through applied psychophysiological modalities. It will provide the support, knowledge, skills, and techniques needed to attain optimum health and wellness by embracing the complexity of neuro-biopsychosocial-spiritual interactions.
